Library Vision and Mission
The Library is indispensable to University of South Asia if it is to be a center for learning and research and a national leader in the cultivation. The vision of the library is to become a world-class resource center to facilitate quality teaching, learning and research in the university.
Mission:
University of South Asia Library's mission is to support the university community in developing skills in innovative and analytical thinking in research and in information literacy, and by providing distinctive collections, services, facilities and programs.
Library Objectives
- To support the mission of the university as a premier academic and research institution embracing traditional values of higher education as well as the knowledge required for the global community.
- To select, organize and supply research, teaching and learning resources for all users.
- To provide an environment that stimulates the use of library materials and services and supports a variety of learning modes.
- To understand the needs of users and provide user-centered services to meet their needs.

Welcome to University of South Asia Library
Founded in 2003, University of South Asia, Bangladesh is a private higher education institution located in the metropolis of Dhaka (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, University of South Asia, Bangladesh (USAB) is a coeducational higher education institution. University of South Asia, Bangladesh (USAB) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. The University of South Asia library has rich collection in the field of business, English, Environmental Science, Health science, Engineering and Technology. It is an open library system to students of University of South Asia, which provides rich collection of books, journals, newsletter, thesis works and CDs. At present the library has more than 5,400 books, 3,500 e-books and 500 e-journals.

Library Collection
Library Sections
The Acquisition Section is responsible for the acquisition of all books, monographs, government documents and gifts for the USA Libraries. Acquisitions Section supports the Libraries' staff in their efforts to acquire and maintain information resources for education and research. There are generally five steps taken in order to acquire material for a library collection whether physical or digital.

Circulation Section:
The following facilities in Circulation Section are available
1. Issuance of text books, audio cassettes, and CD-ROM's.
2. Issuance and renewal of library membership.
3. Text materials
4. Study space
Reference Section:
Readers often have to consult books and materials, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, Yearbooks, and the like for data or information. Normally a reader would not need to remove such books from the Reading Room. Consequently these books are never issued to anyone but are used in the Library premises and for Photocopy.
Reserve Section
Users are not allowed to borrow books from the Reserve Section, where confined books are preserved for use in library premise. Users are requested not to move any book from reserve section to other section.
Newspaper and Journal Section
More than 50 local and foreign journals, magazines, yearbooks, bulletin etc and 14 national newspapers are displayed in this section. Besides remarkable number of contributory journals and magazines are available in this section. Information materials of this section cannot be borrowed. User may read and request the library personnel for photocopy of their required materials.
The following facilities are available in the library:

Library Rules
1 | Every student should be a member of the Central library. |
2 | Every student will be given a library card for the entire period of 12 (twelve) semesters. If the card is exhausted and used up before student completes his/her course study he/she may be issued a new card free of charge. |
3 | Library ID card has to be shown at the entrance of the library. |
4 | Each student is allowed to borrow not more than two library books at a time for a maximum of 10 (ten) days after which the borrowed books will be automatically reissued for two more days. |
5 | A token is given for each issued book which has to be deposited to the security guard at the exit of the library. |
6 | Taka 5.00 will be charged for one book as late fine for each day. |
7 | The queue for the issuance of book should be strictly maintained at the circulation desk . |
8 | If a library ID card is lost, taka 100/= will be charged for issuing duplicate copy of the card. The student should submit an application for the issuance of such a duplicate copy. |
9 | Before entering the library, the student should handover his/her personal belongings, such as books, umbrella, bags, and parcels and so on, at the counter of the library. All valuables such as cash, camera, wristwatch, cell phone, jewelry, etc. must be taken out from their bags and kept at his/her disposal at his /her own risk. |
10 | Library facilities should not be misused. Students must not write in the library books nor should they tear off page (s) from a book, deface documents, or any other equipment. Offenders caught/identified shall be questioned by the Library Management Committee (LMC) and may be penalized for the damages as per the decision of the committee. |
11 | Cell phone/ Mobile phone must be switched off before entering into the library premises and it must remain switched off till the student leaves the library. |
12 | Library officers/staffs and security guards are authorized to search the students within the premises or at the entrance, if required. |
13 | Library membership cards are neither transferable nor exchangeable. Each individual student is responsible for the security of his/ her library cards. If a membership card is lost, it must be reported immediately to the circulation section or the librarian of University of south Asia library. |
14 | No stationary resources (staplers, pens, fluid, etc) shall be supplied to the students from the central library. |
15 | When a book is issued from the circulation section, it is students responsibility to check that he/she has been given 10 (ten) days from the date of issue. |
16 | All members of the library shall check for any damage in the reading resources (books, periodicals, journals) issued to them. If no such report has been made, it shall be assumed that the present user had received them in good conditions. |
17 | Any person found guilty of pilfering/lifting willfully mutilating any library property shall be required to pay the penalty according to the rule shall be taken to disciplinary action by the authority on the recommendation of the library committee. |
